Mr. Chester Hensley, 82 of Wallins passed away on Monday Nov. 20, 2017 at his residence.
Chester was born September 9, 1935 in Laurel Co., KY to the late Lawrence and Ada Robinson Hensley. He was a retired heavy equipment operator, having worked for Fuson Coal, Kentucky State Highway Department, and Kentucky-Harlan Coal Co. He was a member of the Wallins Christian Church, Past Master of Wallins Lodge F&AM, and former board member of the Wallins Fellowship Center.
Besides his parents he is preceded in death by his wife of 49 years, Peggy Hensley, brothers, Marvin Hensley, Sr., Forester Dewey (F.D.) Hensley, Ralph Hensley, and Rex Hensley.
He is survived by his children, Brenda (Danny) Trammell, Donna (Tim) Melton, and David (Heather) Hensley; 5 Grandchildren, Brian Trammell, Charity Melton, Dylon Smith, Payton and Preslee Hensley; He leaves a special friend, who has been like a brother to him, Bill Lee.
The family would like to thank the nurses and staff of Bluegrass Care Navigators, Jim, Donna, and Amy, Susan, Bridgette, Amy, and Michelle.
Visitation will be 6:00 pm – 9:00 pm Friday (Nov. 24) at the Wallins Christian Church.
Funeral services will be 11:00 am Saturday (Nov. 25) at the Wallins Christian Church with Rev. Jim Johnson officiating. Masonic Rites will be observed by Wallins Lodge F&AM.
Burial will follow in the Park-Howard Cemetery in Wallins with Dylon Smith, Sam Saylor, Needham Saylor, Eric Bowling, Dewayne Williams, Ricky Osborne, Rick Osborne, and John Slusher serving as Pallbearers.
Although flowers are welcomed, the family suggest memorials to the Wallins Christian Church, PO Box 116, Wallins, KY 40873 or to Bluegrass Hospice Care, 2972 S. US Hwy 25 East, Barbourville, KY 40906.
