Charles Clayton “C. C.“ Thompson III, (Cha Cha) (Charlie), Englewood, FL, went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, September 13, 2017. His passing was unexpected. He was born August 17, 1951, the long-awaited son of Charles Clayton Thompson, Jr. and Dorothy Helen Jones Thompson. Charlie had placed his trust in Jesus and was a member of Christ Episcopal Church, Harlan, KY. He was also a former Harlan City Council member, a Kentucky Colonel and a past president of Harlan Rotary Club. He was predeceased by his father and his mother.
Left here to miss his presence, but rejoice that he is no longer in pain are his beloved children: Erin Thompson, Columbus, IN; Lauren Lynn Thompson Jones (Jake), Bogota, Columbia; and Charles Clayton “C. C.” Thompson IV, San Francisco, CA. To miss their much loved Poppi are the lights of Charlie’s life: Judah Paul, Naomi Eliah, Emanuela Dove (Ema), and Elias Hayden Lee. Also broken-hearted in his home going are nieces Melissa Wheeler Carver (Brent); Kara Wheeler Elam (Shannon); three nephews, Logan Ellis Carver, Jacob Wyatt Elam, Jackson Wheeler Elam and his sister and dearly loved brother-in-law, Margaret Thompson Wheeler (Wendell). Also left to miss Charlie are specially loved aunt, Carlene Napier Thompson and cousins, Mona Thompson Hutchison and Mary Thompson Till.
Charlie’s memorial will be privately held at a future date and time, and will be shared by his family and friends who are like family to him and to us. We would covet your love, your thoughts and your prayers at this most painful time. The family suggests any memorials one might wish to make in Charlie’s memory be made to Christ Episcopal Church, PO Box 858, Harlan, KY. 40831.
Anderson-Laws and Jones Funeral Home is honored to be assisting the family of Charles Clayton Thompson, III.
