Charles Forester Stephenson, 76 of Harlan passed away peacefully at the Harlan Health & Rehabilitation Center on Friday July 5, 2013.

Charlie was born June 25, 1937 in Harlan to the late Charles J. and Nettie Forester Stephenson. He was the retired owner & operator of the Cumberland Barber Shop in Harlan for several years. He was still a current member of the Harlan City Council and had served for over 20 years and was longtime member of the Harlan Baptist Church.

He was a graduate of Harlan High School where he played football and was honorable mention for All-State and All-American. He proudly served his country as a member of the United States Army. He enjoyed jogging, sports, socializing, gardening, and most of all his family. He enjoyed cheering on his Beloved Harlan Green Dragons and the University of Kentucky Wildcats.

Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his Father & Mother-in-law, L.C. and Lorna Howard for whom he was very close to.

He is survived by his wife Anne; his son Derek; grandson, Jackson, and his brother Jack; he is survived by a very special friend, Neil Middleton; his nephews and Niece, Robbie, Patrick, Betsy Stephenson, Alex and Tyler Osborne; brother-in-law, Brian Howard; sister-in-law, Lynne Osborne.

Visitation will be 12-2:00 pm Monday July 8, 2013 at the Anderson-Laws & Jones Funeral Home.

Memorial services will follow at 2:00 pm in the Chapel of Anderson-Laws & Jones Funeral Home with Rev. Brandon Pugh and Rev. Homer Johnson officiating.

In lieu of flowers the family request memorials to the Harlan Baptist Church Kitchen Fund, PO Box 883 Harlan, KY 40831 in memory of Charlie.
