Charles Melton Sargent 80 of Teetersville, KY passed away suddenly on April 5, 2024 in Harlan.
Charles was born April 24, 1943 in Ages, KY to the late Garrett Garfield and Ruby Ethel Mullins Sargent. He was a Veteran of the United States Airforce and served in Turkey during the Vietnam War. He was retired Mine Inspector for the State of Kentucky, faithful member of Teetersville Baptist Church for over 50 years and member of the Yocum Lodge 897 F & AM. Charles never met a stranger and loved to tell others about the Jesus.
He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Sandra Sargent; his son Charles Garrett (Tracy) Sargent and daughter Gina Hoskins; grandchildren, Lindsey Michelle Sargent, Jessica Brooke Sargent, Nathan Russell Sargent and Alice Hoskins; a host of special relatives, friends and his church family.
Visitation will be 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm Monday (April 8) at the Teetersville Baptist Church. Funeral services will follow at 7:00 pm at the Church with Charles Garret Sargent, Rev. Paul White, and Rev. Donnie Adkisson officiating. Music will be provided by Ernie Hawkins and Lindsey Sargent.
Graveside services will be 11:00 am Tuesday (April 9) at the Resthaven Cemetery Chapel. Burial will then follow in the Resthaven Cemetery. Military Rites will be observed by the Harlan Honor Guard with Masonic Rites being observed by Yocum Lodge 897 F & AM to follow.
Pallbearers will be Charles Garrett Sargent, Nathan Russell Sargent, Bill Ray Johnson, Frank Pennington, Doug Bowling, Wayne Collett, W. L. Brassfield and Donnie Adkisson.
