Carole Eversole McCurley, 74 of Vero Beach, Florida, formerly Harlan died Wednesday April 19, 2017. She was delivered on August 21, 1942 by her cousin Dr. Clark Bailey in Harlan to the late Virgil and Margaret Eversole. She had lived in Fort Lauderdale for many years before moving to Vero Beach four years ago.
While residing in Harlan she was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Harlan and had attended the First Baptist Church at Fort Lauderdale, and the Christ Methodist at Fort Lauderdale. She loved interior decorating, antiques and collecting crystal. She was a graduate of Harlan High School where she was a majorette for the band. Carole loved to travel, was a very photogenic and outgoing lady. She was a Kentucky Colonel.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her son, Clark McCurley and her brother, Virgil Eversole, Jr.; grandparents, Green and Sudie Bailey Eversole, Barksdale and Daisy Crume Hamlett; uncles, General Barksdale Hamlett and Edward Hamlett.
Surviving are her husband, James M. McCurley for whom she married on September 10, 1967 at the First Presbyterian Church of Harlan; sisters, Margaret Edwards and Courtenay Eversole; sister-in-law, Brenda Eversole; nephew, Virgil (Shelley) Eversole, III; and great nieces, Avery Eversole, Emma Eversole, and Alivia Eversole. Special lifelong friends, Jo Ellen Welch Lovello, Wilma Moody Watson, Linda Cawood Parsons, Gail Wardrup Ledford, and Jerry Jayne Parker Payne
Visitation will be Wednesday, April 26, 2017 from 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM in the chapel of Anderson-Laws and Jones Funeral Home.
Graveside services will be Wednesday, April 26, 2017 at 1:30 PM in the Resthaven Cemetery at Keith.
