Old-time Holiness preacher Bud Osborne, 89 passed away on Saturday, January 18, 2020 at the Holston Valley Medical Center, Kingsport, TN.
He was born on September 18, 1930 in Harlan, KY to William McKinley and Minerva (Lankford) Osborne. On May 3, 1952, he married the love of his life, Geneva. Over 67 years of marriage, they had four sons and three daughters, Denny Osborne, Mike (Bonnie) Osborne, Lynn Hall, Wanda (Preston) Brock, Garry Dwayne Osborne, Carolyn (Larry) Long, and David Osborne; 17 grandchildren, and 40 great grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his wife, parents, three sisters, Juanita Osborne, Flary Curtis, and Bennie Wagers, one brother, Walter Osborne, his son Garry Dwayne, two daughter in laws, Cheryl and Rita, two son in laws, Buddy Hall and Mark Farmer.
He is survived by three brothers, John (Thelma) Osborne, Jimmy Osborne, and Sonny (Pat) Osborne; two sisters, Charleen Yount and Collie (Phillip) Perkins.
Bud was known for many things; his love for plowing, his love for his family and love for preaching the true word of God. He became widely known as “Plowboy” by being able to plow any hillside in Harlan County, with a mule, for over 66 years. His love and devotion for his family was only overshadowed by his love for the Lord. His presence in our lives and his faithful preaching will be greatly missed.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday (Jan. 22) at 1:00 pm at the Ages Pentecostal Holiness Church with Rev. Jerry Collins and Rev. Terry Baker officiating.
Burial will follow the services in the Brookside Cemetery where he will be laid to rest with his beloved wife Geneva.
The family will greet friends at Ages Pentecostal Holiness Church after 5:00 pm Tuesday (Jan. 21).
