Bernadine Green

Bernadine Hensley Green, age 60, of Wallins, passed away on Tuesday, July 16, 2024 surrounded by family and friends at Harlan ARH.

Bernadine was a very patient, kind, and compassionate woman. It was so important to her that everyone around her was happy, fed and well taken care of. She would go out of her way to be kind and help anyone she could. Even as to do a small thing such as make her dinner plate last to make sure everyone got as much as they wanted.

Born in Harlan, Kentucky on April 24th, 1964, she was one of six children born to the late Otis and Rochella Sergent Hensley. She is now in her Heavenly home with brother Jack and Roger Hensley along with sister Diane Lewis.

As a home maker, a fantastic mother, wife, grandmother and friend, Bernadine leaves behind those who she loved so dearly to honor and cherish her memory. Her husband Elmer Gene Green which she has shared 33 years of marriage. She also leaves behind the loves of her life, her sons Matthew Blanton, Michael Green and Gene Green. Along side her sons, she leaves behind “her daughters she didn’t have” Ashley Blanton, Tashawna Green and Rebecca Green. Bernadine also leaves behind loving siblings Kathy (Rick) Brock and Otis (Mae) Hensley.

Bernadine was most proud of her grand babies though. Bernadine loved her babies more than life and would move mountains just to see them smile. As their Mamaw, she would always make sure they were all smiling and knew how much she loved them. She leaves behind Matthew, Jett, James, EverLynn, Ava, Liam, Braxton, Oaklynn and the soon to be addition, Alice.

Bernadine believed in the Holiness faith and loved her church and church family dearly. She also loved being along side her best friend, who was a sister, Cheryl Blevins. Bernadine leaves being a host of family and friends to mourn her passing.

Visitation will be on Friday (July 19) from 5 pm to 7 pm at Anderson-Laws & Jones Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be on Saturday (July 20) at 12 pm at the Jesses Creek Community Church with Bro. Jeremy Blevins and Bro. Mike Saylor officiating.

Burial will follow on Saturday (July 20) in the Hensley Cemetery on Abe Hill in Coldiron, Kentucky.

Come to me, all who are weary and heavy-laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.
