Arliss Clark Stewart, 70, of the Glenwood area, passed away peacefully, Friday morning, January 8, 2016, at Reid Hospital, Richmond.
Arliss was born May 1, 1945 in Harlan, Kentucky to Emery and Edith Howard Stewart and was a 1963 graduate of Harlan High School. He was employed as a machine repairman at Ford Motor Company and Visteon, retiring in 2004 following 35 years of service. Arliss loved his work and was an avid gardener, faithfully tending to a half-acre garden each year at his home near Orange. He took special pride in the unique hybrid 'Banana Muskmelons' that he grew from seeds he acquired in his youth near Baxter, Kentucky. Arliss was an ardent supporter of University of Kentucky basketball and enjoyed restoring cars and deer hunting.
Arliss was preceded in death by his grandparents: John Lee and Jonah Stewart; Greenberry and Addie Howard; his parents, an infant son: Jon Emery Clark Stewart; two siblings: Dallas Stewart and Winnie Gayle Tucker; and his Father-in-law: Earl Roszell.
Arliss is survived by his wife of 28 years, the former, Becky S. Roszell; his children and their spouses: Christina Pena Larson and Michael of Kettering, Ohio; Judy Lynn Stewart of Dayton, Ohio; Jason Emerson Clark Stewart and Sarah of Lebanon, Ohio; Raymond Ryan Stewart of Greenfield; Timothy Scott Stewart and Patty Lou Stewart, both of the Glenwood area; a special nephew: Jacob Dakota Roszell; ten grandchildren: Katheryne, Morgan, and Thomas Larson; Tyler Larson and his wife, Kaylee; Jonathon, Chandler, Cameron, Kelsey, Caelan and Rayne Stewart; his siblings and their spouses: Don Stewart and Helen, Mickey Porter, all of Muncie, Darrell Stewart and Delores of Pennsylvania; Howard Stewart and Peachy, Jimmy Stewart and Jean, Doug Stewart and Janet, all of Lexington, Kentucky; Alan Stewart, Gary Stewart and Karen, Jerry Stewart and Rangie, all of Harlan, Kentucky; his mother-in-law: Loretta Roszell; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Thursday at Showalter Blackwell Long Funeral Home, Myers Chapel, Connersville. Interment will follow in Village Creek Cemetery. Friends may visit at the funeral home from 6 to 7 p.m. Wednesday.
